It is about that time again, Google has officially updated page ranks. For those of you who do not know what a “page rank” is, it is, as described by Wikipedia, “PageRank is a link analysis algorithm that assigns a numerical weighting to each element of a hyperlinked set of documents, such as the World Wide Web, with the purpose of “measuring” its relative importance within the set” So in short it is a way for Google to see the importance of a website.

(Congrats to all of you who had your page ranks increase!)

Google can and will decrease the page rank of a site. Take for example problogger.com. This is from a while back, but it does show that Google will decrease a page rank. Whether it be by one point or by four points.

On the other hand, the majority of all page ranks increase, or stay equal. Take for example the page rank of Moneymakinguru.com. It went from 0 to 2. They may sound like a minuscule achievement, but for me it is huge.

Hopefully your page rank increased. If not, keep building back links. And by the next update you will surely increase.
